DocuPen RC800 is a wireless color scanner introduced by the Canadian company called Planon, as the world’s smallest full page, full color 24 bit portable scanner, which stores hundreds of pages in its 8MB internal flash memory expandable up to 1GB via a microSD card.
It allows you to scan color graphics or black/white sketches at up to 24-bit color with 400 dpi resolution.
It powers from a rechargeable Li-Ion battery and uses optical timing to scan 205 mm width in 4-8 seconds per page. After finishing your work you can connect it to the computer via USB to transfer the scanned images and prepare them for printing.

The closer we get to the first position in our top smarter pens we encounter, and one of the most spectacular from all the latest gadgets in technology is this high-end model from Livescribe, measuring 14 x 16 mm at 36 grams.
Inside the pen, Livescribe added several modules each providing a special functionality.
First, there is a Samsung ARM 9 32-bit processor of 150MHz, a 96 x 18 OLED display, a high-speed built-in camera with infrared technology for recording 70 images per second, NAND storage, a 300 mAh rechargeable lithium battery, dual microphones, built-in speaker, USB charging cradle, and support for the following software: Page Viewer, Pen & Application, as well as the access to an online community of Pulse Smart Pen users, where you have the possibility to store up to 250MB of data.
We don’t think it deserves a higher position because in order to use it you need special paper to write on, and it can’t transfer your sketches to the computer in real-time. You’ll need to connect it at a later time to the PC for managing your notes, or transfer data and applications onto the pen’s memory.
The main function of this pen model is to record audio sequences while you are writing, and play them whenever you need to recall specific aspects in your work.
Anyway, if you are interested in purchasing it, you need to know the prices. The 1GB model costs $149, while the 2GB version is available at $199.
7. Zpen
Zpen has a cool and high-tech look, while providing a portable solution for writing your notes.
Its main capability is to translate your handwriting into digital format on the computer it connects to via USB.
You can write on any type of paper as long as you keep the receiver clipped on the sheet, and store up to 1GB of data. More than that, if you use the software it comes with, you can search for keywords among handwriting notes – a rare characteristic of digital pens.
Similar pens include the IoGear Mobile Pen that displays your writing in real-time on a computer, and the io2 digital pen introduced by Logitech and transferred to Destiny Wireless. The latter is a handwriting data collector capable of transferring your work on the computer it connects to, either via the Bluetooth wireless connectivity or the USB cable.
8. Navisis’s Amazing Pens
Here we have a to mention the Laptop Pen designed to transform your portable computer into a the TabletMouse , wireless mouse the PhonePen and the EZ-Canvas.

Oxford Papershow is a digital pen that recognizes your handwriting on a special interactive paper, sending the data to the Bluetooth receiver plugged into your laptop’s USB port. During presentations, such as focus groups, you can connect the laptop to a larger display and all your notes and graphics will be displayed in a larger format, so that every person in the room can see your ideas in real-time.
You can change colors, font size and other settings, while everybody will get a detailed picture of your plans. Also, the pen has 256 MB internal storage capacity.

Why didn’t we place it on the top position? –Because we don’t like wireless pens that can’t write on any type of paper and because it has too many useful tools in the kit. We like to keep it simpler and after you’ll check the pen model on the first place you’ll understand what we mean.

We expect it to be available in stores by the end of this year, as Candle Dragon announced on the official website, and we’re curious about its retail price, which will be announced later this year.
